We want to share with you some things we are doing to prevent the spread of the flu and other sickness at Glidden-Ralston Schools. Students and staff are encouraged to wash their hands, use hand sanitizer (provided in each classroom) regularly and cover their cough properly. Additional cleaning procedures have been put in place on common surfaces like doorknobs, handrails, etc. We are also using a product that kills all germs in each classroom and bus to disinfect and sanitize. As advised by the Iowa Department of Health, please keep your children home if they are running a fever to avoid the spread of sickness. Listed below are the symptoms of the flu.
* Extreme tiredness
* Dry cough
* Sore throat
* Runny or stuffy nose
* Muscle aches
* Stomach symptoms
The Iowa Department of Public Health recommends students get plenty of sleep, physical activity, drink pl enty of water, and eat good food to help them stay healthy.

Glidden-Ralston Mobile App
We have updated the Mobile App in the last few weeks. Paige S. and Allison B. have done a marvelous job in customizing, editing, and publishing the app. Currently, only the iOS update is available through the iTunes Store. For current subscribers or new ones, go to the App Store and search for Glidden-Ralston Community School. The Android version will be available sometime in January but could be available before. Many new features are included and navigation is different now. We continue to learn new techniques and are always open to new ideas.
This year at Glidden-Ralston School, we are going to start an Adopt-A Family program during the holiday season. If you are interested in adopting a family in our school or community, please contact Mr. Olsen. We would also welcome the names of families in our school or community that you feel would benefit from this program during the holiday season. We will be contacting families during the 1st week in December to collect information about how they can be helped.
If you have any questions please contact the school at 712-659-3411 or email Mr. Olsen by clicking here.
