Oh the Places You'll Go.....The Work-Based Learning Program at Glidden-Ralston had an exciting day on Tuesday job shadowing and touring the Blank Park Zoo.
Students explored various career opportunities at the Zoo, were able to learn about the mission of the Zoo and the importance of conservation work and spend time working alongside the team of their choice. Additionally they were able to learn how all these areas work together to create a successful non-profit and fulfill the mission of the Zoo.
Our students participated with a variety of teams at the Zoo including: Animal Care Teams (large animals and small animals), Development Team, Facilities and Maintenance Team and the Marketing and IT Team.
So much goes into running a zoo daily and our students were able to get a front-row experience from the inside!
Summer Boes, WBL Coordinator shared, "This experience (and experiences like these) really give students a hands-on feel for what the operations look like. This can open doors for students to explore career possibilities and options for their futures that they never considered before. Blank Park Zoo is doing an outstanding job of bringing the community in to learn! I cannot thank the staff enough!"
The Glidden-Ralston students that participated include: Chandler Grossman, Mark Lensch, Charles Schon, Wade Hunter, Sunny Bock, Summer Toms (and from Paton-Churdan, Jasmine Butterfield).
